New fact sheet for psychologists and patients on maintaining a heart-healthy lifestyle

APA members can order a packet of 50 of this and other fact sheets on topics such as sleep, weight control, diabetes and chronic pain online from the Psychology Help Center.

The Maintaining a Heart-Healthy Lifestyle fact sheet (PDF, 308KB) is the latest patient education resource from the APA Practice Directorate that focuses on how psychologists can help patients with heart disease prevention and management. The fact sheet addresses how psychologists can help patients make lifestyle changes and address emotional reactions such as anxiety.

This fact sheet is included in the Fall 2014 issue of the APA Practice Organization’s (APAPO) Good Practice magazine, and is available online through the Psychology Help Center.

This resource is part of the ongoing APA fact sheet series, "How Psychologists Can Help," which provides insight into how psychologists can help patients manage a range of chronic health conditions. These fact sheets are intended to be helpful for your clients and practice, as well as for community and public education activities with which you are involved.

The Heart-Healthy fact sheet is on the Psychology Help Center, along with other fact sheets in the series on sleep, weight control, diabetes and chronic pain. The fact sheets include a downloadable version for printing and distribution through psychologists’ offices or public education activities.

Select fact sheets are available in packets of 50 for free to APA members. To order packets, visit the Psychology Help Center.
