Creating roadmaps for practice

Opening session videos from keynote speakers Katherine C. Nordal, PhD, APA executive director for professional practice, and David Barlow, PhD, founder and director emeritus for the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders at Boston University, from the 31st annual State Leadership Conference.

“The way the Affordable Care Act is unfolding reminds us that no single advocacy strategy for psychology can address the diverse legislative, regulatory and marketplace environments we see from one state to another,” said APA Executive Director for Professional Practice Katherine C. Nordal, PhD, during the opening session of the 31st annual State Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., on March 8.

The opening session featured an introductory address from Nordal, along with the keynote speech from David Barlow, PhD, founder and director emeritus for the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders at Boston University. Their speeches marked the beginning of four days of advocacy training, education and networking focused on health care reform implementation and implications for professional psychology. Nearly 500 psychology leaders from throughout the U.S. and Canada attended this year’s conference, sponsored by the American Psychological Association Practice Organization (APAPO) and APA.
