January 28, 2010 — The APA Advisory Committee on Colleague Assistance (ACCA) and Div. 12, Section VII (Clinical Crises and Emergencies) have created “Strategies for Reducing the Risk of Patient Violence toward Clinicians.” (PDF, 128 KB)

Derived from professional expertise and documented literature, the brochure was developed to empower psychologists concerned about the threat of violence from patients. It includes tips on making your office safer, evaluating the risk of violence, identifying risk factors and developing a plan based on analysis of risk factors.

The brochure is intended to be a resource for wide use.
