APAPO Responds to Senate's First "Options" Paper on Health Care Reform
by Government Relations Staff
The Senate Finance Committee, one of the two key Senate committees working on the issue, has recently released three "Descriptions of Policy Options". The three papers were released separately and detail policy options for improving patient care and reducing health care costs (April 29), expanding health care coverage to all Americans (May 14) and financing reform (May 20).
American Psychological Association (APA) Practice Organization Executive Director Katherine C. Nordal, PhD, has responded to the first paper. Her letter to Senate Committee Chair Max Baucus (D-MT) and ranking member Charles E. Grassley (R-IA), focuses on Medicare payment reform, lowering barriers to psychologists' services and psychology training and workforce.
