Insurance & Managed Care
The APA Practice Organization (APAPO) collaborates with state psychological associations to pursue lawsuits that challenge abusive practices by health insurance and managed care companies. APAPO also employs nonlitigation advocacy on insurance and managed care issues. For example, a 2009 survey of member satisfaction with the nation’s largest health insurance and managed care companies highlights for employers, consumers and regulators which companies do better or worse in providing access to psychologists, authorizing necessary care and respecting patient privacy.
